HASVO Covid-19 Vaccine recommendations

Here are our key recommendations to respond to the concerns and questions of the community in regard to the Covid-19 vaccines:

1.     Conduct targeted information sessions to the Somali community in partnership with local GPs and scientists within the community to respond to concerns about the vaccine and local vaccination plans.

2.     Create culturally tailored communication to inform the community around the vaccine

3.     Engage local vaccination champions to raise awareness of locally vaccinated people among the Somali community, to reduce level of concerns around misinformation and side-effects.

4.     Increase access to information around local registration for vaccination outside of NHS invitations to ensure continued uptake

5.     Promote Covid-19 testing among the Somali community to raise awareness, reduce infection and remind of the shared responsibility to tackle the pandemic.
